AdvMAME - Xbox 360 controllers - Not Saving

Hi there RetroPie fans!
I'm quite a noob with all this but if anyone could help me please.
With AdvanceMAME, after loading a rom and pressing 'tab' on my keyboard.. in Input Game, I change my Xbox controller settings- but it does t save them.. I loose them once I exit the rom.

I had the same issue (4.1.18).
I changed the permissions on advmame-0.94.0.rc file to allow write for "others" and now it saves the changes in config. Similar for advmame 1.4.Can someone please step out the process to do this please!
