Animated Screensavers
-
Wow. This is fantastic. If you are taking requests I would LOVE to see Final Fantasy 6, Super Metroid, Mega Man and Chrono Trigger. :) Great job!
-
-
I just saw this thread, and these look so clean. Nice work.
-
@supercatfooz I've added a link to this thread and yours in the Useful topics index.
-
@meleu Alright, wonderful! I hope we see more people jump on this animated-screensaver bandwagon.
(I might actually make a couple myself and post them in this thread, just for fun) -
@malixx I don't, and I wasn't trying to be a smartass, I just thought that ES had a "screensaver" folder one could put these into?
-
@afiction Thanks mate, I was planning to do those anyway :D but they are tricky to do, they will take time...
@andershp Yeah of course no problem, I mean what I said, I'm interested in alternative ways to do it.
@supercatfooz Cool I can't wait to see them!
Thank you everyone I'm glad you guys like it, at first I made this only for a friend but I'm to share it with you. :)

@malixx said in Animated Screensavers:
@cyperghost Oh yeah this is nice! I will stick with my method for now but I guess this one is better if you have many videos to add at once.
Here you go, I think this is what you wanted: .... TETPИC videoThank you very much ;) Looks really nice ;) That keeps the origin flavour - appreciate that
EDIT:
With the method introduced by @SuperCatFooz and the "tag-system" used here we can add as much videos as we want without disturbing any viewlist - as it is a dirty hack :) -
I've got this working, but the videos seem to take quite a while to load. In emulationstation, the screensaver settings are to switch the video every 30 seconds, but with the long load times this causes a black screen while the video loads for 20-25 seconds, then the video only plays for about 5 seconds before switching. I've downloaded the 720p versions, so maybe that's the problem.
-
@quackwalks It seems alright to me, that's weird, sorry I don't have the answer to your problem, yeah try to download them at 1080p but I don't think it's because of that, hope someone will help you out
-
@afiction Here's the Final Fantasy 6 as requested, Chrono Trigger and Super Metroid will come next.
-
@Malixx FF - Looks nice
As an update...
I introduced<path />
tag in collection posting ... so in newest ES 2.6.3 the error of missing path nodes are eli... terminated now ;) -
@malixx Oh man that's awesome! You rock. Thanks so much. Where are you getting these assets, Google?
-
@malixx I am having the same issue as @Quackwalks
EDIT: Problem solved. What I did to fix it was I placed the mp4s in the downloaded images folder, changed the paths to downloaded images folder from each game's metadata, and is now working perfectly. For whatever reason, it didn't like the mp4s in the rom folders for me, just gave me a black screen. Hopefully this will help others out too! :)

@afiction Thanks man! If by assets you mean the artworks yeah it's out there on Google, I try to find them at least at 1080p (with the options) my key words are "artwork", "cover art", "official art" or "original art" etc. sometimes I use the word "wallpaper" if there is nothing in HD.
-
So after a long time with the suggestions here, I have now as @Malixx made. Have set at Swap Video after 30 seconds and now it runs perfectly.

@Malixx
I have to say thank you for these nice collections of screensavers...
My first game I really adored in PC was the XCOM: Enemy Unknown (XCOM: UFO Defense in America) game in 1994.If you really have spare time - may you create this screensaver for me?
I would really appreciate this even if this is not a classic "RetroPie" emulator ;) -
This post is deleted! -
@cyperghost Yeah of course, I will try to work on a XCOM Screensaver, I didn't even know that the XCOM series was that old, I thought it was a recent one!
@afiction Here's the Chrono Trigger Screensaver
-
