Well, I need to know how to turn my Pi 3 back on after I shut the system down from the RetroPie main menu where all the consoles are? I really need to know because I do not want to install a power switch. Do I just reconnect the power or what?

        Yep.

Or you can put it on a power switch so after you shut it down from the start menu you can just flip the switch to turn it back on.

              This is my approach: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/5437/simple-power-on-switch/18

If tetris has thought me anything, it's that errors pile up and that accomplishments dissappear.

Following the link from @Zigurana above, I took the brave step (for me) of soldering cut down headers to the reset connections on the pi itself today. It now works a treat to restart from sleep, just got to fix a momentary switch onto the case next:)
