Video Screensaver in ES 2.6.2
-
I've some questions to ES 2.6.2 and the video screensaver mode.
There is now a dedicated folder just for screensaver --> where is it located?
Is the gamelist hack (adding video tags to retropie/gamelist.xml) needed? --> like this hackThe video slider is neat but would it not be better to add an gameslist.xml to video/folder
$HOME/RetroPie/screensavers/gamelist.xml
and just use tags like to get dedicated playtime of each video? Instead of summing up one average playtime? If the time is not given in the XML tag then the slider setting will be used.
<video> <path>./video1.mp4</path> <playtime>35</playtime> </video>
edit: argh! ... this thread would be better located to help/support :(

Instead of summing up one average playtime?A hack is a hack. Support for video screensaver mode outside of what previously existed. A gamelist is meant to store games. If there will be any updated support to screensavers, that should be done from the ground up. The fact that people are able to trick the system into loading a video for the screensaver via adding a fake entry into a gamelist doesn't mean that that is the way to do it.
I believe that folder is for image screensaver. Maybe in the future it is expanded for videos. But don't expect any special changes or support for things that aren't meant to work as intended.

@pjft I think video screensavers get a push because of this thread and so it's getting attention to a wide audience...
I misunderstood the latest changes in ES as there is a slider for OMX player AND a support for sreensaver images.
Have a nice day ;)

@cyperghost It's good that it's getting this attention, and with the new screenshot-based screensaver, it might be that someone develops that same approach for videos. I believe that'd be the right approach, so fingers crossed :)
