Amazon's Running Diet: free NES game (with ROM)
-
A free NES game was recently released. It was created by Ancient Corp and the main character is one of the characters from "Gotta Protectors" Nintendo 3DS game.
You can download it here: http://www.ancient.co.jp/~game/mamotte_knight2/
Everything is written in Japanese in the page, but you can go straight to the bottom of the page, where you'll see something like this:
Click on that "Download English version" button to get a zip file with the
.nes
and areadme.txt
file. Here is a video showing the game (japanese version):
And here are some words from the
readme.txt
:================================================================================ ------------------------------ Thanks for downloading -------------------------- ================================================================================ Hello from Ancient Corp! This is a special game which was made for the 3 year anniversary of "Minnade Mamotte Knight", also known as "Gotta Protectors", in English. This game is distributed in the .nes format. To play this game you will need to download a NES emulator from the internet. We cannot guarantee the game will work with all emulators. Also, we can't answer any questions to which emulator to download and how to use emulators. Sorry and thank you. ------------------------- What is Gotta Protectors? ---------------------------- "Gotta Protectors" was released on July 28th, 2016 for the Nintendo3DS on e-shop. It's a throwback to the 8bit, old school style action games of the 1980's for the NES. Nastalgic graphics, audio done by Yuzo Koshiro, and superb text/translation done by 8-4. Featuring 6 characters with many particular skills that offer a unique gameplay experience. It is still a growing title even now and with gratitude, I have made a memorial game called "Amazon's Running Diet". Because it is completely free, I hope you enjoy it.
Hope you enjoy.
Oh! By the way, this game has RetroAchievements: http://retroachievements.org/Game/4551
Cheers!

Didn't work for me, pi3, did you get it working with a particular emulator?
-
@fruitybit tested only with fceumm, and worked just fine.
-
@meleu blast. I'll have another go. Maybe a bad download.
-
I tried it when I heard of it one or two weeks ago, though I don't recall it having achievements at the time:p
Thanks for the heads up on that front!
It's a simple auto runner game, but always nice to add to the collection.
-
@meleu must have been a bad transfer, all working fine now thanks:)
-
@meleu Nice! Do you have a link for any boxart that may have been made for promotional purposes?
-
@hyruleslink I'd also be interested in that. :)
-
@hyruleslink Unfortunately I don't have. Will try to look after that later.
