Are Raspberry Pi packages required for Arch on Desktop?
-
I'm tying to follow the guide for installing Retropie for Arch Linux on this page:
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Arch-Linux
In step 2, the user is instructed to install two rbp (raspberry pi) packages. I'm installing on a gaming desktop, not an rbp. Should I be installing those packages? Is there a different package I should install? Thanks!

@asyn I think that's assuming you're using arch on a pi. I personally haven't done it myself but since you're using arch I also assume you're not a Linux noob.
All I know is retropie is best supported on debian based distros. Not that it's not possible on arch, but it likely assumes the user knows what they are doing to get it to work.

Pretty sure you can just install retroarch and sdl2 on Arch instead of those specfic rbp packages. (I think they're just tailored to the rbp).

@vykyan retropie does have a patched version of sdl, but not sure how much is specific to the pi. I believe it's also used on x86 builds
