New retropie image not downloading
-
For the last two days I have been unable to download the new raspberry pi 3 retropie image
the download will reach approximately 80mb and then will just stop
Is anyone else having the same issue please?
-
@uncledisgusting Try a different browser.
-
Thanks for the reply but I have tried it in both Chrome and Firefox
I am running windows 7 and using the same pc and browsers have never had this issue with previous versions. -
This still doesn't work on my PC
I have tried chrome, firefox and IE. The download stalls between 60mb and 100mb
I can download other files no problem, this appears specific to the new retropie image. It is bizarre!
I get the message 'Download failed, network error'
my internet speed is very high.
Any ideas please? -
@uncledisgusting You need to give more info. Where are you, who is your ISP, can you connect via a browser?
-
Hi jonnykesh,
I am in the USA, Comcast is my ISP and I'm not sure what you mean by 'connect via a browser', I am currently running Chrome.
I have downloaded previous versions of retropie on this PC and I can download the image on my macbook no problem but I need to download it on the PC for raspberry pi connectivity issues. -
@uncledisgusting I just Downloaded the image using FireFox, Took about a minute.
-
On a PC?
-
@uncledisgusting PC running Debian. Not Win10 but still a PC.
-
@uncledisgusting Do you have a torrent client on your PC?
-
Yes I do.
Is there a torrent link please? -
@uncledisgusting It is a torrent for 4.2 but it obviously can be updated once installed/

Thank you jonnykesh

I am also having the same issues. I have tried older versions, other browsers and I have even tried a different website. Nothing seems to work. In the United States and my provider is Midconntinent Communications

Download worked fine here.. running on Comcast out of Seattle/Tacoma area. MD5 checks out and everything.
Someone else suggested on another thread using wget (if you have access to a *nix machine or a retropie instance already running):
wget https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/releases/download/4.3/retropie-4.3-rpi2_rpi3.img.gz

Try using a download manager that can resume downloads, something like Aria2 (https://aria2.github.io) or uGet (http://ugetdm.com).
-
Are you supposed to use a download manager to begin with? I just tried downloading thru Firefox

No, but since your internet provider does not provide a stable connection to the download site, you might be able to download the image in multiple download tries.
-
@mitu Tried that. Showed complete once but can't extract anything. Tried going thru Pirate Bay and that didn't work at all. I think it is something to do with the file itself or the server that it resides on. I also tried older versions with no luck. Using Windows 10. I suppose I could use Hyper-V on my PC and create a VHD using linux but it shouldn't take so much work

@gamergirl2469 There's nothing wrong with the file or the server, it's just your internet provider that's interrupting the connection.
