@darknior are they available in some of those databases used to scrape image from? Or do we need to "install" them manually?
I'm asking because installing custom boxart is an item on my rpie-art TODO list. Maybe it's time to take a look at it...
It's a good question, i think it can be best for every one that i had them all on two sites :
https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/
https://screenscraper.fr/But it is so long to do manually, my full pack take so many Covers and Logo ... i have also all the Informations in the XML.
Take from ScreeScrapper, but all corrected, and updated for all the games !
The synopsis are in French, but ScreenScrapper already have the English one.I always have so many work with covers to spend time to do it :(
The best solution where if they have a mass collection upload, auto or semi auto to save my time. -

All of mine are going to be manually, but that's what our script is for. ;)
Honestly, if people install their roms correctly, they won't even need the script and could just use the gamelist.xml that I created with it. Everything will be plug'n'play with the correct rom names and locations used.
I'm assuming that you're not going to find dark's images on any scrapers now either. Everything he's been posting here is stuff that he's put time into tweaking, so the images are better than what is on the sites he got them from.
@darknior Hey bud. I'm just wondering if you have the fixed images in their full definition, or did you start doing the tweaks after you resized them down? I love all this work, but I'd love it even more if it was in the maximum possible defnition for use on better TVs and more powerful Pi computers down the road. For instance, a majority of my NES boxart has the longer side anywhere between 1,500 and 2,100 pixels. It won't work good on a Pi 3 today at that size, but who knows about tomorrow, right?

@Used2BeRX @darknior consider putting your files on a github repo. It would make it more accessible than here in a forum thread.

I work on the image after resize for some, and before for other, it depend what i want to do with it.
But all is registered in a single PSD all at the same size. And i can't give you them in an other resolution.
And when i remaster redraw a Japan game it is a ton of work, we can't resize them again after :(On NES i use : 496x680
On SNES i use : 700x492It's almost an 720p HD resolution, 1080x720p
I use 720p size for my film covers from years on KODI, and it is perfect. On a skin, the cover is never full screen, full screen is 1080p = 1920x1080.
If the cover is not larger than the 2/3 of screen, it will not be stretch. My Retropie is full HD 1080p, i think it is enough.
In the future maybe we will have larger TV resolution, 4k etc ... but is is not really important. The emulators are not HD, we play games with pixel and scanline, we can let the menu in 1080p.
Larger images take more place and are harder to show on computer. Take more memory. And why using a Cover of 1500 2100 pixel and all the videos in LD 640x480 and not 720p 1080p ;)
And for LOGO : 400x... it is little for sure, but enough to show in the skin.

Same for me. All manually edited.
But it can be cool to have them on scrapper for some one who will not use my final pack. He can scrap his rom with my stuff.@meleu said in My Remastered SNES Covers:

Very good idea, i have think of it too. I will do it, sharing covers and XML by system.
I don't try if we can also share the videos ? -
@darknior Same as my Question on the NES topic ;)
Do you mind if I put your work on the ScreenScraper DB ? (with your name as source of course ^^)
-
@screech Yes you can, but go to read my response on NES thread please ;)

@darknior Unfortunately, some of your images I won't be using knowing this information man :(
I realize that 700pxls seems large today, but I'm thinking down the road when we're rocking 100"+ TVs and an RP6. Your smaller images are not going to be big enough. It's the same issue we're already seeing from the old artwork for the XBox 10 years ago. A vast majority of my boxart images have the large dimension at or above 2,000 pixels. That won't be the one used in the RP3 because it's too big, but it will be the one that will be there for more powerful tech in the future.
I'll still be able to use some of yours though. Maybe even most of it. A lot of the Japan stuff was impossible to find in such a large resolution, and quite a few of the ones that we've both worked on I could tell we were both using the same image.
I'd appreciate it if you could do the work in the future with the largest image possible, but if you can't I understand. I'll only use the stuff that I couldn't find larger images for.

Nobody ever explained the github repo to me. It's not self explanatory. I tried to do this with the synopsis files at your request a while back for an entire day with no luck. If somebody wants to spell it out for me I'll consider it. Otherwise people are going to have to get my final release some other way.

@used2berx we can wait bro! Let's focus on what we do well and with pleasure. It's just hobby after all. ;-)
EDIT: @screech offered a hand to upload the images to ScreenScraper DB. It would be a better approach than github! A help very much appreciated! :)

@meleu Yeah. I'm not sure exactly what I want to do with all of this yet. To date this year I've put at least 1,500 hours into the NES project. I'm not really a big fan of the idea of putting it all on somebody else's website. I dunno. I did that years ago and it didn't work out all that well.

Ok i understand :) No problem.
For my part i think HD 1080p will be the max i will ever use.I'd appreciate it if you could do the work in the future with the largest image possible, but if you can't I understand. I'll only use the stuff that I couldn't find larger images for.
All the other systems are begin in 720p, 720 high pixel.
I will not make higher because i will never use them, and it's more work for me to work on larger files. Sorry :(@meleu said in My Remastered SNES Covers:

Yes for sure it's my first idea :)
Github is cool but limited to 100 Mo ... so light to put a complète system MEDIA :( -

Think about that. Would you really want to play NES games on a 100"+ TV? 😃

Yes, i think like you @Hyruleslink ... using a 1080p ES Skin will be the max for me, image in 720p are really enough ;)
-
@darknior Can you remaster the boxart for Eternal Filena (Eien no Filena)? :)
-
@hyruleslink Yes it is planed ;)
