I could not get the analog sticks of my PS3 controllers working in PSX (or n64) games.

I had RetroPad / Analog set in Retroarch for input 1 on the input 1 bindings page, but i saw a lot of forum posts also mentioning in RetroPie 3.3 era there was a "core" input option that also needed to be set to "analog" and I couldn't find a "Core options" in the new retroarch.

I did however find reference to setting

pcsx_rearmed_pad1type = "analog" rather than "standard" in

      /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-core-options.cfg

And once I changed that, the analog sticks worked in PSX as expected.

Is this setting supposed to be available anywhere in EmulationStation / RetroArch?

If you go into the Retroarch GUI from inside a PSX game by using select+X(top button), then you'll have a menu option that you don't get in the retropie menu Retroarch GUI because it is core specific.

It's there under Quick Menu -> Core Options, and you shouldn't even have to set it to save on exit.

@wetriner Ah, I do see it in there.

I had to set up the hotkey bindings and all the input1 bindings - even though the controller is set up in Emulationstation, it didn't propagate to the PSX emulator.
