Can't SSH (SSH is enabled)
-
Hi all,
I haven't been able to SSH into my fresh install of Retropie, even though I enabled SSH after installing.
When I attempt to connect to my pi through either Putty or FileZilla, I get the error message "Network error: Software caused connection abort." I've tried connection both by using the hostname "retropie" and using my pi's IP address. I have also tried with both the default password and after setting my own password.
Both my pi and desktop are connected by Ethernet. Temporarily disabling my firewall did not help.
This seems to be a Retropie issue, as I have been able to successfully SSH into a Kodi box build on a separate SD card.
On a final note, I can see my Retropie in my file explorer under Network. Initially, I was using this to transfer my ROMs.
However, I cannot open the individual console folders under ROMS, so while I can transfer ROMs to my Pi, I cannot edit or delete them from my home computer. The error when attempting to open and view the sub ROM folders is:
"\\RETROPIE\roms\genesis is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the network administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
The directory name is invalid."
I'm not sure if this problem is related and if there are some permissions I need to change on my Pi to fix one or both of these problems.
edit* The above issue seemed to be isolated to the genesis folder. Deleting and creating a new directory fixed this issue (not related to SSH problem).Thanks in advance

@dieselhammer The
genesis
folder is a symlink to themegadrive
one, that's why you got the error - you shouldn't have deleted the folder since you might have problems running the ROMs you'll be copying there.As far as the SSH problem is concerned - please answer the questions from https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first to have an idea how your system looks like.
