      I need some help i bought a 8bitdo/bluetooth controller i set it up
      It works in emulationstation but as soon as i play a game it doesnt work at al...
      also my first controller wont exit out anymore either i was messing with it all day to get it to work but gave up because everytime i started a game i couldnt exit out so i litterly had to pull the plug to turn it off like 4 times ive got a good SD card i dont want to do it anymore untill i know what to do because i do not want to corrupt my SD card since i pulled it 4 times.
      you think my SD card is fine tho??
      I didnt want too but everytime i started a game i Just couldnt exit out..

      What i tried next was i went into Retropie setup then config and there you can reset your controller configs i did that but then non of my controllers worked lol cause i just reset it and had to pull the plug AGAIN ahhhh!!!
      Because i cant use SSH at the moment to even reboot it and since i deleted my config i couldnt reboot it normally anyway i did that and this time i ONLY set up my bluetooth controller it did work but i still cant exit out of roms i dont understand because right now there only one controller hooked up so u should be able to exit out just fine...

      I dont want to continue messing with it because clearly i cant figure it out and im sick of pulling the plug i dont wanna break my sd

      Anyway before i had this bluetooth controller my wired one worked fine and now since i messed with it i cant get it working right even removing all settings and just use the bluetooth controller didnt work either because i cant exit out of roms or go to retroach setting (select and x i believe?) during gameplay very weird.

      Any thoughts?
      Sorry for long paragraph lol

        @retrofreak89 my suggestion:

        1. Go to the bluetooth configuration tool (that on RetroPie menu)
        2. Toggle the "8bitdo hack" and then
        3. Configure input in emulationstation again.

            @retrofreak89 try the 8-bitdo hack toggle one way and reconfigure. If it doesnt work toggle the hack the other way and reconfigure. One of the two ways will make it work.

              Another thing to make sure of is that the controller firmware is up to date.

              http://support.8bitdo.com/

              8bitdo has gone through many iterations of their controller software. I didn't use the 8bitdo hack but was able to connect the controller normally to a Pi Zero W using normal Bluetooth methods.
