How to configure a second controller for 2-Player games
-
I am using a PS3 Controller with a third party BT-Dongle.
Now I am trying to setup a Buffalo Classic USB Gamepad for two player games.
I was not able to find an official guide how to realise this.I would like to attach the second controller only when needed.
I already read something about @meleu
https://github.com/meleu/RetroPie-joystick-selectionPi Model or other hardware: 3
Power Supply used: Official Pi3 Supply
RetroPie Version Used: 4.3.3 (16172fc)
Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
USB Devices connected: BT-Dongle
Controller used: PS3 over BT
Emulator: lr-snes9x-2010
Miscellaneous: Onboard BT and WiFi disabled -
Just plug in the USB controller and use the EmulationStation 'Configure Input' option to add this new controller - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Controller-Configuration/.
As long as both controllers are paired/plugged in and working, they should both work at the same time in any game that supports it.

I will try this.
Is the first attached controller always directed to player 1? -
When plugged directly into the pie, it will assign controllers in this order. (Those wily computer folk start counting at zero so player one will be in the upper left, player two in the lower left, etc)

This is not working for me. The first connected controller gets player 1.
Since the PS3 Controller is connected via BT I have to connect the USB-Controller after the PS3 Controller was connected. -
-
I make it simple the manual way.
After configuring the new usb controller in ES. I disconnected the controller and rebooted only with the PS3 Controller.
After the PS3 controller was conneced to player 1 I attach the usb controller. Finished :) -
I've configured my controller but when I go to a game ,start button doesn't work therefore I cant start game..can someone please help me

@juan19802005 Please start a new topic and post your system details, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

@xadox better yet. If you remove the ps3 sixad driver and use the ps3 controller on the regular bluetooth then whenever you turn it on before going into a game it will automatically become player 1. Regular bluetooth ps3 setup is better than using the sixad driver. It doesnt auto go into sleep mode which makes the controller not work in game after you turn it back on like the sixad driver. Guide is here. Really easy to do. You need your usb controller or a keyboard hooked up at the same time.
