Can't configure 8bitdo NES30

Hi,
I'm stuck on the gamepad configuration menu, because this controller doesn't have triggers or sticks. I can't get it to continue past "right shoulder" or click the OK button, so it won't save the configuration. I also can't seem to find anything on the topic via search.
Is there a hotkey to hit the OK button, so it will configure input for retroarch, or am I going to have to do all that manually?
This is RetroPie 4.3 on a Raspberry Pi 3.

@shaeree To skip mapping a button, just long press one of the controller's buttons - just like it's shown at the top of the configuration screen.

@mitu Errr, sorry... There are only the words "CONFIGURING" and "GAMEPAD 1" on the configuration screen for me. There aren't instructions on the screen.

At the top it distinctly says hold any button to skip
