Newbie Help!!! Loading RetroPie
-
I purchased a Vilros Raspberry Pi 3 that came with an SD with NOOBS and RetroPie loaded. I selected to load the Raspbian os and then RetroPie. However I cannot get RetroPie to load to configure remotes etc.
When I open the terminal and key sudo ./retropie_setup.sh, I receive a message saying sorry Raspbian/Debian Stretch is not yet tsupported? ARGHGGHGH. I am so frustrated and need some help.
I am pretty new to all this coding and such, but need help.

@jkbrooks start with the official image which is based on jessie:
https://retropie.org.uk/docs/First-Installation/
And if you want to install the desktop you can do that after you've flashed the retropie image:

@herb_fargus Thank you and am downloading the image now. This may seem silly, but once I do this onto my SD and I pop it into the Pi, I should be able to run the setup script again?
Or do I need to remove the entire desktop? Thanks for your help.

@jkbrooks writing the retropie image will overwrite everything on the SD so you'll just have to install the pixel desktop environment from the setup script and you should be good to go. Make sure you read the docs clearly though as you can't run Retropie from within the desktop environment, you'll have to logout first

As Herb says, the official image overwrites everything and Emulation Station loads automatically. It basically works right out of the box, just copy rooms over and plug in a controller or keyboard.
