64gb Micro SD cluster size?
-
I apologize ahead of time if this has been asked over and over again, but I couldn't find a definitive answer. I scrolled down quite a ways in the forums and didn't find anything.
I understand the concept of cluster size or allocation unit size. I am going to reformat a 64 gb micro sd as FAT32 instead of exFAT and install Retropie onto it along with 15+ emulators worth of games. I'm building a retro gaming console for a couple relatives using Raspberry Pi 3. What I was wondering is this. Is there an optimal cluster size that fit my needs, or should I just go maximum at 64kb... or would that result in too much wasted space? I was personally thinking of maybe 16kb or 32kb, but I dunno. I am probably just overthinking all of this and am asking a question that need not be asked, but i just wanted to be sure.
Anyways thanks for the help. Any input is appreciated.

@qu9ke RetropPie will not use the FAT32 formatted partition to store the data. It doesn't matter if your SD card is formatted or not. If you write the RetroPie image on the card, you'll see that will create 2 partitions
- a small Fat32 partition to hold the boot files and boot configuration
- a larger Linux partition that will actually hold the system, including the ROMs, emulators, etc. This partition will be automatically expanded on 1st boot to fill in the rest of your SD card.
So yes, you're overthinking it. Just write the RetroPie image on the SD card and start your Raspberry Pi.
