Screensaver activates on pressing select

I am running RetroPie 4.3.3 on top of Raspbian(berryboot) on a Raspberry Pi 2B
After I downloaded some chd's today I went on to Retropie to play Street Fighter III:3rd Strike and when I loaded a state the game was glitching out then I tried some other games and they all worked perfectly. Then I went to the menu and when I pressed my select(also my hotkey) it activated the screensaver. Therefore I deleted some chd's after entering Raspbian shortly after I launched emulationstation and there was an improvement (the graphics weren't glitching out anymore) but instead now there was a black background and I whenever I performed a move no colour came from it(e.g. hadokyn had no colour) but if I reach the next level the background stops.
Any help would be appreciated

@sammyboy Screensaver activating on select is a feature, not a bug (!) and it doesn't interfere with ROM playing.
What is your problem specifically ? It looks like you have a bad rom of some sorts and the game you're playing has bugs. Can you try a different version of the ROM, maybe not in .chd format, and see if something changes ? -
@mitu I am playing Street Fighter III : 3rd Strike(fb alpha)this ROM does not have a chd but I was trying another rom that used a chd and after I deleted some chd's the ROM got from glitchy to a black background.
