I have my 2-disc set and I remember when I got far enough to move to Disc 2 that it would ask to put Disc 1 in first. Disc 1 plays perfectly and sure enough when I load Disc 2 on the pie, the rom starts and asks for Disc 1.

I found this from @PetroRie - Yes, when the game prompts to insert the second disk, you can load it via the RGUI menu. Your save game will be there, beside you will save your game on the new disk too, so yeah it will work. It works fine now I'm playing Fear Effect, I'm currently on disk 3 now. So far everything worked fine. In game saves and save states work fine, don't worry about this. this used to be an issue which has been solved already.

I'm just curious what the procedure is for moving onto the next disc specifically in the RGUI menu. I haven't completed Disc 1 yet on the emulator, but I'd like to know the process in advance.

      Thanks everyone

Well, I found this guide- https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/playstation-1#bios

It seems to describe the issue and a couple workarounds.

        Has anyone tried these before?

@mitu yes I think so! Thank you

I guess then what needs to happen is I cant just save with savestates, but at some point I have to save within the game as if I was using a playstation memory card?

Ill have to look into that so that it shows that I finished disc 1

@mitu Ive only used savestates with my raspberry pi- I didnt realize I could just save like normal within a game

So if that does indeed work without any further configuration, then your video should indeed aolve my issue- thanks much!

@mtascavage The video I quoted is not mine, just a helping hand from another user.

@mitu i figured it out- I didnt realize you can still save the traditional way on a pi
