      Hello, complete RasPie noob here. I've been searching online, but can not seem to find the answer to the following:

      If I install RetroPie from the SD image provided on this website, without having installed Raspbian first, will I be able to have access to Raspbian?

      Basically, as I understand it, installing it this way makes the RasPie boot into EmulationStation, but is there a way to switch from EmulationStation to Raspbian to have access to the web and Python and other apps?

        @dfeofil you misunderstand the difference between an operating system and desktop software. RetroPie is built on raspbian but doesn't ship with the desktop environment (which is called LXDE) there are also other desktop environments as well but the default raspbian uses lxde. I just added an easy installer for those that want the desktop. See here:
