I have a Pi-3 B and canna kit that I’ve used for my arcade cabinet project I built back in the summer. I run emulation station as a front end and have two sets of controls configured. 2 cabinet sticks with 8 buttons each and a control section for coin and player starts. This is all controlled by independent usb interfaces for each side which I plug into a hub and into the raspberry pi. These controls are used just for arcade games and neogeo. My second set of controls are usb Super Nintendo controllers that go into the hub and into the raspberry pi, these are used for all my console emulators.

The issue at hand only applies to the player 1 cabinet button set. Only on some arcade games not all of them the bottom far right button will open the in game menu (where you can reset the game, change dip switches, etc). I’m trying to figure out why it does this on some games and not others? Lastly where would the binding for this be located? I try looking at retroarch.cfg and couldn’t find anything related to the bound key to even remove. Any help would be great.

Is it only certain games every time or is it random when it works or doesnt? If it's the same games every time I'd say that it could be possible those games have a non lr- Mame emulator associated with them which could mean the bindings are loaded from a separate cfg whereas all of the lr- emulators use the global retroarch cfg. You should be able to spot check a couple in the runcommand splash screen menu if it's enabled.
