      Hi everyone,
I just setup my first retopie a few days ago. It boots fine and I was able to connect both a PS3-Controller as well as a Speedlink TORQUE (or so) wireless gamepad to it.
Buttonmapping works nice with the input configuration menu.
The problem however is: Though everything seems to be setup correctly (I can see the correct button mappings in RetroArch configuration), the controllers only work in the main menu, not ingame.
I tried the games from the ports menu (that one that came with retropie) and in Super Mario nothing works. In doom however the arrow keys are working, unfortunately there is no button working that I can accept with. So I can just scroll the main menu.

I hope I have not lost something but I searched a bit and just found hints for old versions and all they do is basically done automatically by the version I am using.
      Any suggestions?

      System:
      Pi Model: 2 B
      RetroPie Version Used: 3.7
      Built From: SD Image
USB Devices connected: Keyboard, WiFi, Controllers
      Controller used: PS3, Speedlink Torque
      Error messages received: None
      Emulator: PORTS

      Cheers,
      John

@JohnB So you are trying to use the controler on the PORTS, right? Those are retroarch-independent, so they don't assume the retroarch configs. Controller configuration for the games in the PORTS section is game-specific. Check the proper wiki page for each PORT for info about configuring controllers
