Save Configuration on Exit not working

when I make changes in rgui like turning on bilinear filtering the changes don't stay once I exit the game and go back to emulation station. I have Save Configurations on Exit enabled as I have in previous versions. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I'm using ver 3.7 on a rpi3

I believe you have to change "Save Configurations on Exit" manually in the config file or using RetroPie's configuration editor.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think if you change "Save Configurations on Exit" from within the RGUI it will not save because saving has not been enabled yet.
