Getting a lvl0: VolumeControl::init() - Failed to find mixer elements! Error since using 3.5 mm audio Jack

Hello, all.

I recently started using the 3.5 mm jack on my Pi3 to hook it up to computer speakers since the speakers on my TV are pretty anemic. Since I started using it, every time I start up ROMs or go to a configuration menu, I get the "lvl0: VolumeControl::init() - Failed to find mixer elements!" error for a few seconds before the screen switches to whatever I am accessing.

I have tried switching back to HDMI and Auto in the RetroPie audio setup options but with no luck.

This is one of the few little, irritating problems I have had in an otherwise smooth experience.

My Google search have turned up that this is a common problem that has cropped up over the years for multiple users but with different causes.

Has anyone had any luck with resolving this?

Power Supply used: 5V, 2500 mA
RetroPie Version Used (eg 3.6, 3.8.1, 4.1 - do not write latest): 4.3.8
Built From: Sorry, no idea.
USB Devices connected: Logitech Wireless Mouse/KB, Ultimarc iPac2 joystick, spinner, and trackball
Controller used: Logitech Wireless Mouse/KB, Ultimarc iPac2 joystick, spinner, and trackball
Error messages received: Getting a lvl0: VolumeControl::init() - Failed to find mixer elements!

@jonnykesh Thanks for the link. I went through the suggestion of the last reply in that post but I am still having the same issue no matter what I set it to. If I switch to HDMI or Auto on either Raspi Config or Retropie Setup, the audio goes through to the TV (which I don't want) and I still get the error message.

@krisfallion Yeah, but your audio is working. Is it not?

@jonnykesh Yup, the audio works just fine going through either 3.5 mm to the computer speakers or HDMI to the TV speakers. It's just that the error that keeps showing up and distracts from an overall pleasing experience with the interface. This is more of a cosmetic issue at this point than a functional one.
