Good power supply and SD card running stable
Various versions of LR mame and advmameI have a reproduction of the Atari 720 rotary joystick connected to an Optipac. I have spent a couple days finding a way to make it work. I now have it working on a Windows PC running a 2013 version of Mame. The final step to make it work on my PC was to simply edit the mame.ini file and change the mouse value to 1. When I launch 720 I can spin the skater with either my mouse or my 720 joystick. If both are plugged in it causes some calibration centering issues but when I unplug my mouse the 720 stick works perfect.
I thought I should be able to make it work in Retropie. In my research I found that Mame .142 and newer added support for this controller. The only version new enough for RP is lr-mame2014. I know that is experimental and not 100%. Game loads fine and appears to have no issues..In mame2014 when in the game options there is a new menu (not there in older versions) called "game configuration". You can select your controller type..joystick, spinner or real, so it should be able to use it..There does not seem to be access to the mame.ini file for lr-mame2014. . Sorry, maybe too much detail..bottom line ,I can go to pixel desktop and use my 720 stick to scroll the pointer across the screen and use the attached buttons like right and left mouse buttons but cannot for the life of me get any input in the game. I have tried advmame 1.4 config file changes to map spinners and trackballs to the mouse. Did not work. I tried editing the retroarch config file as well with no luck. Just hoping there are a few 720 fans out there that may have found a way..Thanks!

I found this Atari controller config file. Can this be used to help? Obviously, I am not too savvy with this. I have figured out some basics with Mame on the PC, but struggling to translate everything into RP emulators. I can get the game to play with a mouse on some versions of advmame and Lr-mame, but when using the original 720 joystick I can only get the skater to very quickly flip back and forth 180 degrees. The mouse buttons I have connected to the Optipac with the joystick can be mapped, but not the joystick..Hopefully using Pastebin correctly...Appreciate any help I can get. Thanks!
