Slow gameplay/rendering for PSX
-
I have used retropie for a fair length of time. The last version I was on was 3.2 I went to do some updating and got the message regarding Wheezy support dropping and Jessie being the new hotness. In any event, with some spare time, I decided to update my setup. RPI2, ps3 controllers via bluetooth, roms location nfs mount. These are the config things that are pertinent.
Downloaded appropriate 3.6 image, and wrote to SD. Booted, and all was fine. F4 to exit... sudo apt-get update && upgrade.
retropie_setup script to install the ps3 controllers. they tested ok. Installed from binaries (not source). Mounted nfs share via reboot after install... put psx bios in bios folder... life is good. except, I fire up a couple games that had no issue on 3.2, and they are slow/near unplayable.if you are going to suggest the nfs mount, it's the same one used for 3.2. lr-scx-rearmed is the emulator chosen by default, but I am not sure if this has changed from 3.2 or not.
games are tekken 3 and nhl 99. Both are a fair shade under-performing. Tried overclocking and still no love. any hints, or anything that might have changed between versions? Also noting that n64 was near perfect for a couple roms previously, and now will not play at all.

Check the render output resolution - this has changed recently for quality over performance which is fine for most emulators. You can lower it via the configuration editor on a per system basis and also via the runcommand launch menu

Hi,
I am running 3.6 and use the same emulator, Tekken 3 runs at full speed for me. I am overclocked to 1000mhz on the CPU, and 500mhz on the core/sdram currently. Video threading is set to true in the global retroarch settings (true by default now).
As BuZz says it's probably rendering at too high a res, mine is set to the default setting (config) which essentially uses the HDMI mode set in my config.txt. My screen only has a native resolution 1024x768 VGA so I use this mode across the board for best image quality / performance. If your config.txt is set to use something higher (like 1920x1080), you will need to change the resolution for the PSX emulator to something lower.

Also, disable the high resolution mode in the lr-pcsx-rearmed core options. It's a huge hit on performance.
