want to save just save files
-
Hello all,I've had my raspberry pi 3 for over a year now and never really had a issue .....installed a file purchased off ebay ....Im using a 128gb card and img........I already have the img file backed up on my desktop so no problem to refresh......just wanted to see if its possible to open the sd card on my PC to find the save files on certain emulators and save to on PC to put in a fresh install later.......did goole on the subject but could only find info on full backups......... I got as far as using a program "linux reader" to open the sd card but don't know what the files would look like or where to find them on the sd card.......could anyone tell me if its possible and how to pull the files off?? thank you much.....zmb187

@zmb187 by default the save files save to the rom folder of the game. They are usually .srm files and save states are .state files.

@zmb187 ya, if your pi is on your network. Log into it, open the roms directory and copy away

thing is we got new internet recently so the network was not set yet....I did a amateur move and deleted the button to get into options in config....so would need to use my PC to pull off the saves if that would work.......

You just need for the PI and the PC to be connected to the same network, you don't necessarily need Internet connection. You can access the ROM folders from the PC using file shares or WinSCP (if you enabled SSH). Look at https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Transferring-Roms/.
