      Oh no, I just had it enabled in the gui you can pull up during games.

      I'll give that a whirl and report back.

        I got a chance to check on this again, and still no luck.

        i've got neogeo with 3.1 unibios in there, I just did a fresh install of Retropie, i've got the line in the config file, I've got the zip in the bios folder, the neo geo folder, and the FBA folder, it works fine in lr-fba, but not lr-fba-next.

        any help?

          What does enabling this do? Does it just show the NeoGeo splash screen?

          And your NeoGeo zip file needs to be the right version. It can be a painful exercise finding the right one. FBA and FBA Next uses different romsets, but I have no idea if there's a difference in supported NeoGeo bios.

            Ok, so I just tried this.

            RetroPie 3.8.1
            lr-fba-next

            Put the correct romset version (FBA 0.2.97.38) as per
            https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Managing-ROMs

            Set this line in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-core-options.cfg
            fba-neogeo-mode = "UNIBIOS" (or you can set this in RGUI with Start + X, then choose Options)

            I put neogeo.zip and nam1975.zip (from the above romset) into /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/fba

            and then it worked without issue.

            Here is the neogeo.zip that come with fba 0.2.97.38, I havent altered it.

                Thanks, I'll try this tonight. I think my bios file was not correct or matching. I might re-download my NG roms to make sure they're .38 as well. Will report back later tonight hopefully!

                  I have the same problem written above, but I have my roms in the neogeo folder und using lr-fba-next on retropie 3.8.1

                  I followed the instruction in the wiki, changed the bios to uni in the rgui (all bios are available there)

                  Took care that the neogeo.zip (with all the different uni bios files) is in the rom folder of neogeo and BIOS

                  And no luck, still loading standard mvs with lr-fba-next (didn't tried other emus)

                  Also tried to leave the asia-s3 as default, and renamed the unibios 3.2 file to asia-s3.rom in the neogeo.zip

                  Then it doesen't load anything at all

                  Suggestions?

                  @gt4chuck is it now working?
                  @Floob @dankcushions any other ideas?

                    Ok, got it

                    It seems that the manually change in

                    /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-core-options.cfg

                    is essential. Only setting the bios in the rgui is not enough.

                    Both settings worked now!

                    But it only saves the setting for the specific rom

                    In my case, i like to play the AES versions. So I have to change the bios when i first start the game, then it keeps this setting

                    But I'm fine with it. Nevertheless an overall and general setting to AES would be sweet

                      what do you mean? the .cfg setting only to use unibios only applies per game? or that the AES/MVS mode you select within unibios only applies per game? the latter is unchangeable - each games has a seperate save, so each game is effectively a unique neogeo system.

                      however, if you're simply trying to use AES mode then you don't need to use the unibios to achieve this. there's a core option for 'Neo Geo mode' which lets you select MVS/AES/etc globally. there's also the BIOS option which can be used to do the same thing (i'm not sure what the effective difference is there as they seem to do the same thing).

                        @dankcushions

                        I meant the setting in unibios at the start up applies only per game

                        Once I changed the cfg AND the bios in the gui, the unibios shows up at the start, like it supposed to be, but in the default MVS mode

                        So I have to access the unibios with A+B+C, change to AES.

                        When I restart this specific game, it keeps the AES configuration.

                        But when I start I game I have never started before, it comes up still with unibios, but again with the default MVS setting. So I have to alter every game once on the first start, to be sure every game launches in AES mode.

                        Ok, its not a real problem, I just have to change it once at the first start...

                        But I guess when I would write "AES" instead of "UNIBIOS" in the config, it would always boot in AES mode. Will try this maybe tomorrow

                        Sorry, maybe I expressed myself wrongly, my,english is a little rusty...

                        Retropieproject is so great! I love it! :)
