I have been playing around with the Pi and RetroPie for a few years now and I have seen videos on youtube (by some frequent users of this forum) showing what appears to be a totally flawless Mario Kart 64 running.

      How do they do it!?
Is it a special configuration? A particular emulator? Memory-split-magickry?

My Mario Kart 64 used to lag like a pet pig. Now it seems to run perfectly well but the menus are all screwed up. The racing portion is perfectly fine but I can not read any of the menus. I feel like a little girl asking for makeup/hair advice right now so please help a gamer out!

You can see Mario Kart running with the different video plugins here, including showing how to change them:

This should help speed things up:

Aha! It is the non-LR mupen emulator then. It always takes me 2 tries to get that to compile for some reason. I will give it another shot tonight.

As for OC, I'm done with OC on the RPi3 for now. I have tried everything and none of them were as stable as the vanilla clock speed. I may revisit it once I give the above a shot again. Thank you for your hard work, videos and contributions to this community. I subscribed to your channel.
