I've downloaded a number of ROMS all to the same folder on my laptop. However, the official guide states that to add them to Retropie via a usb drive you have to add the ROMS to the sub folder named for the emulator which they relate to.

Unfortunately I didn't know this when I was downloading them, and they're all in one single folder. The file names don't give any clue as to which system they're for.

Can I still add them without having to go back and spend hours looking up which system each game is for?

      Thanks in advance! :)

If you unzip them, the file extension will tell what they are.
Check out the docs, but each emulator eats different file extensions, like Megadrive = .md, MasterSystem = .sms - this could get you some of the way I guess.
