Pi3B+ Pausing at times where Pi3B never did before?
-
I did an upgrade from Jessie to Stretch on my Pi3B prior to swapping the sd card over to my Pi3B+. Everything seems to be working fine but I am noticing that games appear to take a bit longer to load up (like an extra second or two) and when I was playing my now standard heat test game of SNES Secret of Mana there is a noticeable pause each time you exit one location and move to another. It seems like this coincides with the music track kicking in for the new scene.
I am not experiencing any errors or problems otherwise. But wanted to see if this might be something others have experienced but were not sure if they were seeing it or not?

Well, as far as I know, the Stretch builds are in Beta. This is likely something to be resolved with time.

Sorry for not directly replying to your issue - but does that mean I can now directly update Jessie to Stretch from the built-in RetroPie-menu? I would try this then before manually migrating my data. How can I check the installed Raspbian-version after doing so, if possible?

No, you'll have to udgrade using the distribution utilities, you should though upgrade all packages (from binary) after you upgrade the OS. See https://linuxconfig.org/raspbian-gnu-linux-upgrade-from-jessie-to-raspbian-stretch-9
Note that the recommended approach is to use the new Stretch based image and migrate over your roms and configurations. -
Thanks, I‘ll stick to this intial plan then!

@mitu Hi there. Where I love my set up and it has been a LOT of custom work and im still on the learning curve, how much of a pain is it to move your configurations? I don't even remember every file I've edited.

@nowun You're the only one that can answer that question, since you're the only one that did the configuration modifications. There a recent topic on this subject - https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/16866/migrating-a-working-retropie-setup-to-the-new-stretch-image - you should check it out.

@mitu Thank you very much! Just needed a good noob starting point, much appreciated.
