I bought the gaming kit from the Pi Hut yesterday and received it today.
How do I tell exactly what version of Raspberry Pi I have ?

I tried a few times to flash the drive with retropie 4.3 and then 4.3.15 - it would not boot
I have borrowed a friends Pi and it boots fine with my card and his ( same power supply, same HDMI, same controller ).

Is it likely my Pi is damaged or something else?
Appreciate the advice - thanks in advance.

@herb_fargus he may well have bought a 3B+ as I see PiHut currently have a 3B+ bundle on sale.
Op if your Pi looks like the one below it is the new plus model and needs the updated beta stretch image. Search the forum as this question has been asked multiple times and there is an image available.

Some further info. I installed the stretch image and Pi Hut also sent me a link to the same.
I did the same thing last night but did it again anyway. Downloaded the retropie-4.3.15-rpi2_rpi3.img again and flashed it on to the disk.
Again it boots from my friends and the micro disk led turns red as it does on my Mac.
On my Pi no boot and the disk LED does not come on.

I did read the docs before posting and I am asking Pi Hut too. Bit stuck.

Thanks for the help so far.

@robdnt Just to test the board you should flash a stock Raspbian image and see what happens. https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspbian/
