Possible to play emulationstation on Rasberry Pi3b+
-
I've managed to get the beta of Retropie working on my RasberryPi3b+. However, the only thing showing is the retropie config with no Emulationstation :(
I've loaded some roms for the snes and put on to usb, although the usbromservice always fails when loading up retropie.
I'm very new to this, so I don't really know what I'm doing :)

Are you using the RetroPie image from the link below? It's required for the 3B+.

yes I am. My usb controller is working 'madcatz sfiv controller', although can't get WiFi. However Ethernet works with my WiFi password so it seems.
I really should have read this forum before purchasing the 3b+, as I have been reading https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/16818/pi3-worth-upgrading-to/48 and realised I'm going to have to wait before games/software becomes available.
Should be worth the wait though me thinks(?) :) -

although can't get WiFi
The WiFi issue and resolution is noted in that link.
WiiFi is disabled until wireless regulatory domain is set (Pi 3 B+ only)
- The domain can be done through 'Raspberry Pi Configuration' (rc_gui),
'raspi-config' or by setting 'country=' to an appropriate ISO 3166
alpha2 country code in /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf.However, the only thing showing is the retropie config with no Emulationstation
If by this, you mean the RetroPie menu seen below, then you're already in Emulation Station.
That would just leave the ROM issue. Are you following the official documentation? Also, how exactly is it failing? Does it ever begin to transfer any files?
Should be worth the wait though me thinks(?) :)
Certainly. These things can be a bit rocky at first, but I think it's a nice update.

Thanks for the reply :)
I had seen the little note about the wifi on that page. I tried to figure out how to do what was suggested, although I didn't have much luck.
Haha, so page I'm seeing is actually emulationstation.. doh :) Thanks for thatThanks so much for the 'documentation' link. I had been waching videos on puting roms on to usb, but had somewhat missed the part telling me to put the usb drive in the rasberry pi3b+ before then returning to my laptop to add the roms to the retropie folder. Will give that a shot now ;)
