Changes in 3.8
-
I got a bit of help last week installing Mame 2010 on 3.7 - the tips that allowed me to install it were to change GPU memory to 32mb and increase swap in /etc/dphys-swapfile.
These changes allowed me to install mame2010 successfully and also allowed emulation station to run correctly. Since installing 3.8 today, I have changed the GPU memory to 32mb, this then said that some programs had their own settings but this will change them all to 32mb and only offered me to go ahead - not an option to change. I then restarted, and it stuck in the terminal. It wouldn't run emulationstation and didn't recognise the bluetooth keyboard I have connected in the terminal. I had to use putty to edit /boot/config.txt to have gpu_mem=256 again, to get emulation station to load.
Has the way the GPU memory split works changed since 3.7?

?
Nothing has changed in RetroPie regarding gpu mem, but raspi-config / firmware has changed which may have had some effect. Need more information to advise. Note that the RetroPie image is just RetroPie installed on top of a Raspbian Lite image - we are not responsible for the underlying os/firmware/kernel etc..
