[Tutorial] OPENMSX not restricted only to ROMs Retropie 3.8
-
Hi step-by-step guid about to load DSK, CAS, and ROMS in OpenMSX
The reason why by default Disk Images don’t work is that OpenMSX uses C-Bios (only supports cartridges). It does not have a Disk Bios and Disk-Basic.
To work arround this, you have to add ‘real’ Machine Rom’s, for example, a MSX Turbo-R Rom’s from the Panasonic FS-A1GT, so let´s begin.
1 - Go to Experimental packages from Set-up menu in Retropie and select OPENMSX to install (ETA 30 min)
2 - Press F4 and go to terminal
[removed rom links]
3 - Boot OpenMSX using a random MSX ROM
4 - From within OpenMSX open the commandline using F10, use the following commands to change the default machine:
set default_machine Panasonic_FS-A1GT
save_settingsNow OpenMSX accepts DSK/CAS!
How swap DSK images when you need it (press F10)
diskb insert gamepart2.dsk
-
This is great! Will DSK and CAS games launch cleanly from the ES menu if their type is added to
/etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg
?Edit: I see that .dsk is already a listed extension type at:
