pcsx-rearmed & neon enhancement : what about 2D textures ?
-
Hi everyone ! I just figured out pcsx could be switched to 640x480 (cf. retropie wiki) which makes 3D games look much better ! However, 2D textures / 2D games now look very blocky while they used to look pretty good in low res + crt-pi pixel shaders.
Is it possible to add some kind of bilinear filtering to 2D textures while using the HD mode ?

@bidinou The 640x480 resolution is done in software so no filtering is possible. The Neon plugin originates from the OpenPandora and there isn't enough CPU headroom left to also process/preprocess textures.
Perhaps once the DragonBox Pyra is released some further work will happen on the plugin, who knows?

@pokeparadox Perhaps we should just ask notaz politely if he'd consider picking up his efforts on the Pi? I'd even drop ship him a Pi or two if he was interested.
I still have my original batch OP, and I'd really like to have a DBP, but I can't justify the price right now as I have too many other electronics that I don't use enough. Still, I'm beyond happy that ED managed to salvage that disaster caused by Craig and is carrying on with the next gen.
My Pandora is still in need of an LCD cable repair, for which the parts were ordered almost three years ago now. The LCD still functions, but it's getting to a point where it doesn't. I've just been too distracted / unmotivated to finally get to it. Having this retropie setup with a more comfortable controller on a big screen does not help me with said motivation.

@bidinou video_smooth or a shader could still be used in pcsx's 'hd' mode. or you could turn on per-game core options and only turn on enchanced resolution for 3D games, and create per-game cfgs for the 2d ones turning on shaders, etc.
