Coffee Table Build
-
My first build. Preparing to build a full cabinet. Learned a lot and I am pretty happy with the way it turned out. I slightly modified a cheap coffee table. Drilled a hole for power underneath and added a couple pieces of 1x1 so the cabinet doesn't slide around on the table. The height is perfect for an adult to sit on the couch and play and my kids can stand and play it.
Raspberry Pi 3b+
RetroPie 4.4
USB joystick and buttons
Flush mount USB, HDMI & audio ports

A nice, clean build. I've some questions: What kind of joysticks and buttons are you using? Could you please show us the wiring inside? The right buttons seem to be in a different angle than the left ones. If so, why?

@ayekaye Where is the screen? and please let us see the inside of this coffee table

@clyde These Joysticks:

The thought was to angle both stations out a bit to move the players away from each other. I will not be doing this in my cabinet build, I will just make the cabinet a little wider. It makes it a little weird because up and down are not in line with the cabinet.

@retroprogrammer No screen on this build. HDMI out to play on any TV.

@ayekaye Thanks. To space out the players while avoiding the asymmetry, you could cut off the corners at 45 or less degrees in line with the joysticks' orientation. You also could mark the orientation with artwork.

Thanks @clyde I am definitely going to add arrows to indicate direction on this box. This one will likely be disassembled with most components going into my full cabinet build.
