I have three different HORI Real Arcade Pro joysticks (4, 4 Kai, and V). All three work with my Pi 3 and Pi 4.

They are high quality arcade sticks that run you about $80 USD on the secondhand market. If you find one in good condition for less, it's a steal.

@pimpernelle1969 said in Retropie Arcade (MAME/fba) custom GAME ROM Input Device:

Is it easier with version 4.5?

it should be the same. You can try on your existing image - opening the RGUI for the game you'd like to change the inputs and change the controls until you're ok, then save a game override.

Where can I get a reputable installation file? or can I do that via the retropy menu? I'm a bit afraid that nothing will work after that.

The only image we support is the one that you can download from retropie.org.uk/download.

Nice job man! Definitely an upgrade from the cardboard box! =D

Very clean and I'd digging the shallow depth.

@pm4698 said in Create custom arcade console:

In case i want to seal this arcade box, does raspberry support so many controller inputs? (2 USB-joystick-button controllers, 2 normal USB controllers, 2 light gun controllers and 2 wheel controllers?)

Not sure on the light gun part but I would assume so, I use the ipac (mini) as well with sanwa joysticks and gold leaf buttons from ultimarc. I've used the inexpensive stuff on amazon also but nothing compares to the ultimarc IMO. The only thing with the sanwa's is going from 8way to 4way switching for games like Donkey Kong as the switching is under the panel. I tried using other joysticks that switch at the top and just didn't like them (mag-stik being one of them). I did get the sanwa working with a servo (servo-stik) for auto switching however my control panel did not have room to fit the servo... I used a toggle switch to move the restrictor plate. You can also set the rom bootup to change to the correct setting but I opted for a manual switch.

I use the arcade sticks for mame games, and usb wired xbox360 like controllers for nes/genesis etc. Some nes/genesis games I use the arcade sticks as well, Works great either way. I don't remember if I ever got genesis 4 player games working with arcade sticks and usb controllers together, IIRC I had to use 4 usb controllers was something with the multi-tap in genesis but I only have 1 friend so it's not a problem normally lol.

You will need a powered usb hub as you wont have enough ports for everything.

MDF is what I used for a small 2p bartop, going to do a 4 player pedestal next using MDF again.

@TheRealSmilebit Ok, and just one more question, what holesaw size did you use for the trackball? (2 1/8 inch?)

      Thanks!

@thelostsoul Ach guck mal, ein Landsmann 😊
Ich komme aus Münster/NRW by the way.

      50x gescrapt? 😱

Great idea and build. In addition, you could cover it with a one-sided mirror so it looks like a hall mirror when it's turned off. :)

That would look very nice, but I don't know if I can deal with all the glare it will produce.

Thanks @clyde I am definitely going to add arrows to indicate direction on this box. This one will likely be disassembled with most components going into my full cabinet build.

@sadtraxx What they meant was that you don't unzip the roms themselves, maybe there was some miscommunication.

The files you're expected to have in the folder must match these:

I have two Arcade Boards that dont work with my Pi 2+3: the MadCatz StreetFighter Tornament-Board (PS3) and the NeoGeo2+ Joyboard, also for PS3. Besides of them i agree: all USB Devices apart of these two seem to work on the fly. Im using MortalKombat-Tournament Sticks by the way and love them
