Wireless xbox 360 controller without dongle?

I have a raspberry pi 3 that has Bluetooth built in and the newest version of retro pie. Should it be possible to connect my wireless controller to it without having a dongle to plug in since it has Bluetooth?

I am not 100% positive but I don't think XBOX controllers are Bluetooth (any model) that would more likely be a PS controller that supports Bluetooth and I would imagine several 3rd party vendors too.

that is correct. xbox uses something "close" to bluetooth, but is not the same thing
