On Ubuntu 16.04 i386 I followed the instructions. When choosing "Basic Install" it starts compiling things and after a while it gives an error. The log says the following in the end:

      = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Installing 'usbromservice' : USB ROM Service
      = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

      /opt/retropie/supplementary/usbromservice ~/RetroPie-Setup/tmp/build/usbromservice

      = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Configuring 'usbromservice' : USB ROM Service

/home/sjoerd/RetroPie-Setup/scriptmodules/packages.sh: line 276: popd: /home/sjoerd/RetroPie-Setup/tmp/build/usbromservice: No such file or directory

Maybe it tries to popd to a removed directory in packages.sh?
