Changing sd cards

  • Sorry if this has been asked I did a search and couldn't find an answer. I am using an 8gb sd card on my raspberry pi 3 mainly for emulation, if this starts to get low on space is it just a matter of formatting a larger sd card and copying one card to the other or would I have to format the new sd card to be accepted by retropie and then transfer each rom individually. Assistance appreciated

  • @affleck001 It's always good to format your sd card first with sdformatter tool.
Make an image of the contents of your card with win32diskimager and then write the image to the new card with the same program. Dont forget to expand the file system on your Pi so it can use all available space.
