Hi I want to completely reinstall raspbian without retropie on my pi 3. Currently I have retropie installed. I cant find my sd card reader so I need to do this without it. Is this possible or do I need to go out and buy an new reader?

@zmanblue You can uninstall from the RetroPie setup script. Another option is to install the Pixel desktop (from the same setup script), then choose to autostart to desktop instead of Emulationstation.

I had said that, and then deleted it once I realized that he also wants to fully reinstall Raspbian, not just delete RetroPie. I don’t know how he would do the second step, not that it means much, as I’m n0t an expert

@douga The RetroPie image is Raspbian (the Lite version, without the desktop) configured with the RetroPie setup script.

Yes, I know that, but what he said was that he wanted to reinstall Raspbian without RetroPie. At the second attempt I interpreted that as getting rid of RetroPie and doing a clean install of full (not lite) Raspbian. Removing Retropie, and adding Pixel would not achieve a clean reinstall.

Apart from the Pixel method, @zmanblue could boot a Raspbian installation image from USB. He may have to enable the USB boot mode on his Pi first.
