Retropie with Linux Mint?
-
Hi guys.. i installed Linux Mint Cinnamon 64Bit on my older Celeron 2,7Ghz Cpu, 4GB Ram and Intel Onboard Grafik.. then, i installed Retropie and moved over all my wanted roms with artwork, videos ect. to the system.. everything works but if i scroll through the Emulationstation menu between the systems or gamelists i get heavy performance lags or shorttime freezes.. if i select a game, it works without probs, only in the menu are these stutterings.. what could be the reason for that? should i use another linux distribution or the 32bit version? are there any possibilities to fix this lagging/stuttering? I had no probs with the same roms/datas on my original Raspi3.. any tipps for me?

What theme are you using ? Can you disable videos and see if this changes the transitions ? How much video does the on-board video card has ?

Check fps in Es. There is a config option. Maybe vsync is off. It's on by default but depends on gfx card settings under X environment etc.

I am using cardcrazy as theme but even if i change to the basic theme it is stuttering..not directly but if i am scrolling around through the systems a bit. I think the onboard gfx has no seperat ram.. its shared.. ok, will try to switch off the videos and check the vsync.. but as on raspi i cant find a config.txt file for trying some tweaking. On Pi i had once after an update probs in the menu and was able to fix it with adding the line gpu_mem=256.
Could it be that it has something to do with the 64bit Version of Mint? I think retropie in gerneral is a 32bit application.. ?
