ES on windows theme won't show up?

I am using ES on windows to test a theme I am making, but it won't show up. I loaded my theme (which works perfectly on my pie) and it's just a white screen with the system names, but no theme.
How do I get it to load my theme?

found https://github.com/jrassa/EmulationStation/releases and that seemed to do the trick.
