Hi guys, Perifractic here. I run a small YouTube channel called "Retro Recipes" (www.youtube.com/perifractic). I'm doing a hopefully interesting/unique new video about RetroPie and have a question. If I have an older RetroPie installation from 2014, is there a simple way to update it to the latest version whilst retaining all the settings from the previous install?

I would assume updating from the setup script in retropie setup?

@perifactic Updating fresh is always recommended but you can try this :

Just have a backup image done first in case things go south.

@perifactic I'd recommend backing up your setup first, and then starting fresh and using these to copy settings and such.

At least that's what I did and works well.

@perifactic I would be very nervous of updating from a 2014 version. I'm trying to remember the releases, but I think Retropie 3 was early 2016. What version are you currently using and on what hardware?

I'd start from scratch because that's where the fun is at!
