Retropie with Google Cardboard
-
Hey all,
I had the idea to put a Raspberry Pi with Retropie and a 5" screen in a spare Google Cardboard headset I have. Tweaking a shader profile, I'm able to get games to run fairly well with the headset. However, anytime I have to use the menus (startup, change save states, switching games, etc), I have to take the Pi out, use the menus, then properly place the computer back in to continue. So I'm looking for a way to get the system to permanently display a side-by-side, lens-friendly warped image.
My first thought was using the shader profile on the emulationstation menus, but the only related posting I found had no replies, so I'm assuming it's not possible. I see compiz can do some screen splitting, but I'm running the Retropie boot image, not through x, so I doubt it would work (and I don't think compiz can do the warping anyway).
Am I wrong about any of this? Or anyone have an idea of how to do this? Any insight would be appreciated.

@dan_vapored hi, I’ve also had the same idea, I’m struggling too though, how do you get the split screen? I can’t seem to find anything on it online, literally the only thing stopping me from going any further with the project atm lol, if you could point me in the right direction, I’ll be very grateful! Thanks, Mat!
