      Hi,

I just updated from source going from version 3.1 to version 3.81 via the following steps:

      1- Updated retropie setup script
2- Manage package >Manage core package> Install/update all core packages from source.

All went well ... everything still works and I can see everything updated correctly.

Here is the part I need advice....

I am currently running this newly updated build on a Raspberry Pi 2.

When I move the SD card into my new Raspberry Pi 3, it does not boot (stuck on multi colored boot screen) If i put the SD card back into my Raspberry Pi2, it boots fine....

I was under the impression that if I updated the build, it should then Run on a Newer Pi v3, but the image seems to only boot on the raspberry pi 2...

Is there any way to get this updated 3.81 install to boot off a Raspberry Pi3 without a fresh install????

      Thanks!!!!

Go to setup / tools and Raspbian tools and update packages. You get the new firmware etc then for underlying os

Wow... Thank you. For anyone curious, this worked. Updating Rasbian tools packages provided new firmware needed for the image to boot on my Raspberry Pi3....

            Thanks BuZz!

I also must say, that I like the new retropie setup script. With it, I was able to update the base install, then seperately update the underlying OS and Firmware.

Whats really great is that I am now on the 4.0beta, and my Xbox360 Wireless controllers still work perfectly (which they did not when I attempted a fresh install of 3.81)

Seems the new retropie setup script seperated the installation of underlying OS from the base install, while keeping driver updates seperate as well (giving you better choice of what gets installed)

            Cool beans.
