So I saw an old(ish) post regarding samples folder used with MAME2010. The post said that samples don't work unless they are stored in /home/pi/samples. I actually found that putting samples in "....retropie/roms/arcade/mame2010/samples" works fine BUT then there is the annoying consequence of having a "MAME2010" in the games list in emulationstation. Apparently there is a mame.ini somewhere but I've been unable to locate this! I'd like to move the samples and point mame2010 to the new directory OR get emulationstation to ignore subdirectories for purpose of finding roms.

      Can anyone help?

Could you try to put them in /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/mame2010/samples ?

Ask me how I solved that after I deleted all my mame roms why don't you?! lol

well I've looked and I can not find where I put them..

edit: when I put them in /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/mame2010/samples they work fine..I don't have a listing for the mame samples in my list..although I do have a "mame system" (I use the arcade list)

@akafox hope you get your roms back! Thanks for your input, I'll try that again and put them in that location. I wonder if I should update MAME2010? I'll backup my SD card first! Thanks again!

after your list is made you can enable "parse gamelist only" (or something like that) then the folders will not show in the list.

Remember if you add anything though you will need to turn it off so ES can see and add it..then when you are dine you can re-enable it.
