Retropie not playing audio through kodi but working fine with games

Hi, I'm running my rpi3 with a 7'' touch screen and running audio through the aux jack. For some reason the sound works perfectly when playing games but I have no audio when playing kodi, I've had a look on YouTube and also spent a few hours searching Google for a solution, I found a few people share my issue but I can't find the fix. So this is last resort can anyone help?
