No ROM folder
-
I stalled RetroPi on my SD card and then went to transfer ROMs to the card directly and found no ROM folder. This is my second time do this, the first time there was a ROMs folder on the SD card that made it easy to load the ROMs into but now I don't see that folder. I am viewing it on a Mac. Is the only way to load it now is via the USB drive option?

The USB drive is not the only option - see the other options available. The easiest would be over network (Samba Shares).
To copy the files directly on the SD card you would need a Linux system able to read and write the ext4 filesystem used on the SD card for the Linux installation (Raspbian) on which RetroPie runs. -

I wonder why the first time I set mine up last year I was able to see the ROMs folder and just drag everything in.

I believe I just remembered how I did it... I used the smb:// and connected to the pi as a server.
if on MAC OS X open finder, select "Go" menu and "Connect to Server". Type smb://retropie and hit "Connect".

Somehow I wasn't able to get Samba to work from my Mac but using SFTP with Filezilla (free program) works like a charm. It's worth a try if the Samba shares don't work out. Good luck!
