Atari 2600: Yargs revenge
-
I used to have an Atari as a kid but never had this game... I tried it last night but don't know what to do.... I recently saw Eugine playing it in the walking dead-the description of the game was awesome... is it some kind of classic?

I assume you mean this:
Here's a link to the manual : http://atariage.com/manual_thumbs.php?SoftwareLabelID=603
Dunno what a Yarg is so I can't help you there. ;)

It is indeed. It's considered to be one of the best video games of that era. Ironically, it was programmed by Howard Scott Warshaw, who also infamously programmed 'E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial', which is considered to be one of the worst video games of that era. The guy often jokes that because of these two games in particular, he has the widest range of any programmer in the video game industry.

@mediamogul yars revenge is freaking awesome. My favorite back in the day 2600 game. Et is cool. I hated it too though. I never had the manual as a kid. If you read the manual and learn how to play it is actually pretty cool.

@mattyl42 best 2600 game. You want to shoot out as much of the area around the bad guy. When you are really close to him, this disc thing comes out to try to hit you. If you stay close to the bad guy and dodge the disc at the last second you can hit the bad guy with it and kill him.

That's true so often with 2600 games that it should have been the tag line for the whole system. If you haven't already, be sure to seek out 'Yar's Return'. It was released initially for the Atari Flashback 2 and built off of the original source code. I wouldn't say that it's better than the original, but it's a nice continuation.

Yars revenge- yes opps I was at work and posting from memory.
Thank you I liked the manual!!
I now know what a Yar is It now makes sense as to why there's a fly on the cover and what the 'rainbow' coloured area is for. I like this game too! The gameplay description is pure 80's gaming history...its a little before my era but it does have something super retro cool about it... -
