Emulationstation - Will not launch
-
but that for fat32, other have it running NTFS. I have movies I want to be able to put on it while travaling 4+gb
-
@almulder it works with Ntfs also. Which doc have you followed ?
-
https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Running-ROMs-from-a-USB-drive/ - but it says fat32, do I just follow this same thing and it will read NTFS?
-
Ok I followed it and had it as NTFS, looks liek everyhting copied like it should. now I put 1 rom on there in the nes folder out the usb back into the raspberry (same usb) powered it up and I get this error:
emulationstation: /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/tmp/build/emulationstation/es-core/src/rescources/Font.cpp:17: Font::FontFace::FontFace(resourceData&&, int): Assertion '!err' failed. Aborted
If i take the usb out and restart it books up with no issue, just with no usb now. -
@almulder How did you configure your
/etc/fstab
? Can you paste the contents here, surrounded by code quotes ? -
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0 PARTUUID=f2d3cb4f-01 /boot vfat defaults 0 2 PARTUUID=f2d3cb4f-02 / ext4 defaults,noatime 0 1 # a swapfile is not a swap partition, no line here # use dphys-swapfile swap[on|off] for that UUID=3ABCB4F6BCB4ADAF /home/pi/RetroPie ntfs nofail,defaults 0 0
-
@almulder Looks ok - do you have the necessary folders created under
/home/pi/RetroPie
? BIOS, roms, retropiemenu, splashscreens ? -
yes they are there and copied to my usb
-
@almulder Then I guess the mount options need could be different. I think it would be easier for you to use 2 partitions - one Fat32 for RetroPie roms and a 2nd one (NTFS) for large files.
-
OK not sure how to do that, can you point me in the right direction? Im off to bed and will try tomorrow.
-
@almulder Just format the external USB disk with a FAT32 partition - but don't use the whole disk. Follow the instructions in the docs to use it for ROMs and make sure it works. Then create a 2nd partition on said disk with NTFS.
-
ok I went and tried that. same issue. however i decided to start everything over and see if I am missing something. I have had the EasyHack Toolkit script work before so I knew there has to be more to this. well long story short. Looks like this was all due to a bad gamelist.xml file. Sorry to waste your time. (atleast i figured it out). :)
